Up and Running

19th March 2019

On the 11th of March we were delighted to receive the news that finally the Alacrify Foundation Community Interest Company had been registered at Companies House.  It means that the HelpAndKindness project now has an official parent organisation behind it.  We can now start to raise funds, set up service partnerships, and build the awareness of the project.

The process we went through to create the community interest company was quite challenging.  We knew we wanted to be clear about the independence and transparency of the organisation that runs the #HelpAndKindness project, and had a good idea of the aims and inspiration for building HelpAndKindness, but trying to extract and distil this into a small number of key aims and objectives was quite a task.  We have included the company aims and objectives on the new website that we created last week. You can look at the new site here and see how they turned out.

Now we have the community interest company set up, we are in the process of creating the rest of the infrastructure needed to run the business.  In addition to sourcing appropriate insurance, we're also opening up a company bank account.  We hoped to find a local bank that we could use, but the options are somewhat limited here in Dorchester now.

Alongside these practical tasks, we have also been meeting with and speaking to lots of other agencies and contacts around the county.  We are committed to joining the dots between all sorts of agencies and organizations, as well as individuals, across the county.  We want to be able to offer a relevant service as widely as possible.  Every time we speak to someone new it enriches our understanding of what is possible and what could be needed.  We are clear in our plan that we don't want to reinvent the wheel, nor tread on others' toes.  This process of dialogue and discovery been a wonderful chance to connect with potential partners and users of the HelpAndKindness project.

As always it is the referrals and personal connections that make all the difference.  We've been fortunate enough to speak to many key influencers and networkers across the county who have really helped us to crystallise how we can work alongside many of the county's agencies and organisations.  And we've also been humbled and delighted to receive extremely positive feedback about the project and its intention.  This encouragement adds to our enjoyment of working on the HelpAndKindness project.

If you would like to get in touch with us to hear more about what we're doing, and more importantly, tell us what you are doing, please give us a ring or drop us an email.  And you can also find us on Twitter where we are working hard to build connections too.

We'd also be delighted if you would tell your friends about this project.  Please let them know that they'll receive a warm welcome if they'd like to get in touch will find out more about HelpAndKindness.
