A Great Start - Our First Stakeholder Seminar - June 2019

20th June 2019

It was fantastic to be joined at our first Stakeholder Seminar by over 30 people who represented dozens of organisations that provide help and support across Dorset. This amazing group included public, private and lots of third sector (charitable and voluntary) groups, networks and organisations.

[Delegates were welcomed with refreshments which included hand illustrated biscuits.]

We invited as wide a cross-section of people as we could, including some whom we've known for many years. Our aim was to show the progress we've made with #HelpAndKindness so far. We also presented our plan for the next phases of the project.

We wanted to check with the experts that #HelpAndKindness would meet the needs of the people in the room, and find out what level of involvement they wanted to have with the project as it progresses.

[Hand-drawn badges were created for each of our delegates.]

The meeting and feedback exceeded our hopes and expectations. There was an enthusiastic welcome for what we're planning, and a repeated confirmation that it's a project that's really needed across the county.

We showed off the screenshots of our prototype designs for our web-based directory and were pleased to receive strong approval for the presentation and ideas behind our work. The uniqueness of the project's vision and methods was clearly grasped by participants, and their enthusiasm for our alternative approaches to engaging with people providing support and the public were endorsed.

The conversations continued long after the Seminar's formal endpoint, and we have since received further emails and feedback from participants who are keen to lend a hand and give support to the project.

We are delighted with the response to the Seminar and are fully engaged with the challenge of getting the project ready for launch this autumn. Key to this phase will be working closely with many of the people who joined us at the Seminar.
