Counting Down To Launch

2nd September 2019

We are looking forward to launching the new Help and Kindness service this autumn. It follows more than a year of conversations, research and thinking about how to support the many brilliant organisations that provide support to people in Dorset. We've spoken to dozens of people in the public sector, private sector and in the charity and voluntary sector to see if our ideas will be useful and help them in their work. The encouragement and enthusiasm we've experienced has been overwhelming, and humbling. Despite some ups and downs we have continued to develop the project and fund it privately while we find more sustainable ways to make this work.

This first phase launch will allow us to welcome all kinds of support-providers, of any size and type, to join in the network we are building. This will help everyone to know what is happening in their area, and to share and refer projects, events and activities with the public and each other, strengthening the awareness of the good things that are happening in Dorset.

We want people to know that they aren't alone, that there are so many good people doing good things together to build community and take care of one another. We want to show how much support is on offer to people if they need it; and if the support is not yet there, how we can respond to those unmet needs.

This will be the first phase of several developments that will build the opportunities for communication between support providers, build community awareness, catalyse new projects and developments, and celebrate and appreciate the Help And Kindness that is the life blood of our communities in Dorset.

Do get in touch if you'd like to get involved and hear more about what we're doing. We'd love to hear from you.
