Helping Dorset residents with digital skills

2nd November 2021

Did you know that 11% of residents in the Dorset Council area are offline completely? And that a further 20% have some essential digital skills, but they don’t have all of them?  This means that almost a third of residents struggle to access digital services.

If you work in a frontline role we need your help to change this by becoming an Embedded Digital Champion who can support people to access services online at the time when they need help.

For example, library employees might help people reserve books online or housing officers might help people with their application for housing.

You’ll be given training, which is fully funded, to make sure you can help with any questions you might be asked and so you’ll be learning new digital skills. Your organisation will become more efficient as your customers become more confident using online skills and can access many more services themselves.

There are new courses starting in January and it will take you 2 hours a week for three weeks to complete the training. It's really fun and interactive and you will improve your own digital and soft skills as well as helping to improve those of your customers and clients.  You can even sign up as a group with your colleagues and we can tailor the training for you so you can learn together!

So if you work in a frontline role and would like to help people make the most of getting online, don’t miss your chance to book your place by emailing
