Will you help us gather vital evidence about caring?

10th July 2023

Carers UK LogoWe've launched our State of Caring 2023 survey – as a Carers UK volunteer, can you help spread the word and create a powerful collective voice for change?

State of Caring survey

With a General Election in Westminster on the horizon, knowing the issues carers face in 2023 couldn’t come at a more important time, so please make sure you tell us your priorities.

Last year over 13,000 carers shared their experiences with us – but with your help, we can reach more. Please share the survey with your networks, and if you care for someone, take part in the survey yourself. We would particularly welcome responses from carers from lesser heard communities, such as carers from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds and LGBTQ+ carers.

How we use State of Caring

Last year we were able to use carers’ responses to:

  • Win landmark new rights for two million employees to take up to five days’ unpaid Carer’s Leave.
  • Seek improvements to carers’ benefits through our newly established Carer Poverty Coalition
  • Press for carers to be included in cost of living payments, with vital evidence of carers’ financial struggles
  • Show the impact of the backlog in the NHS and make sure carers are not forgotten in NHS and care reforms
  • Respond to government consultations on a range of issues affecting carers.

But we’re not stopping there and know we need to do more and push further.

As the survey is very comprehensive, designed to help us to really understand carers’ experiences, it is quite long. We hope it will take you about 20-30 minutes. We very much appreciate you taking the time to complete it.

The survey will close on 3 August and we will be sharing the results later in the year. If you have any questions about the research, please get in touch with our policy team by emailing [email protected]

Best wishes,
