We need you to help within:

If you have a desire to help others, you are reliable and resilient, you could be a great addition to the team.

Within the Dorset Family Link worker Team we believe in the value and uniqueness of people. We welcome volunteers who have a range of skills and life experiences.

We will ask of you to do the following:

To support our team in their ongoing work, CCP are seeking volunteers who will act to facilitate community befriending. Through triaging we will match you to a client that fits with your experiences and skills. Typical activities can include:

  • Being a listening ear for parents
  • Supporting Clients and their children to complete day-to-day activities inside and outside of the home
  • Support them with accessing and using public transport
  • Accompanying them to community groups
  • Carrying out small DIY jobs, such as redecorating, putting together furniture/blinds/curtains.
  • Supporting a family to improve the condition of their home.
  • Accompanying the Family Link Workers on their initial visit to the family home
  • Supporting a family with healthy eating, cooking skills, meal planning and food shopping.
  • General befriending support to young people to promote independence and improve wellbeing.
  • Phone calls to support clients and ensure changes they have made are sustained.

We commit to you:

  • We have an extensive training programme that will allow you to carry out this role.
  • We will provide you with regular support and supervision during your time with us.
  • We will let you know the outcome of your work and the difference it is making to the people you are supporting.
  • We see you as part of the team and invite you to our All CCP away day and other activities through the year.
  • We have a designated Volunteer Co-Ordinator who will be on hand to support you with your volunteering journey within CCP
We Place the Safety of our Clients, Staff, Students, and Volunteers first:

CCP uses Safer Recruitment practices to onboard volunteers. These entail an application form to be completed, Interview, Induction training and Enhanced DBS vetting and references.

What we hear from the Volunteers:

The results of befriending can be very significant. It often provides people with a new direction in life, providing access to a range of activities and leading to increased self-esteem and self-confidence.

We as a Charity:

We as a Charity CCP was originally founded in 1989 by a local businessman in response to the growing number of homeless young people in Cheltenham. Recognising that people as young as 16 were sleeping rough around the town after having been thrown out of their family home, he purchased a building and opened a 10-bed hostel.

We have grown a lot since then and now aim to transform the lives of children, young people, families, and vulnerable adults by preventing homelessness, strengthening families and promoting independence. With a head office in Cheltenham, we currently employ 220 staff, backed up by a team of 160 volunteers, currently delivering services and projects in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, South Gloucestershire, Bristol, Wiltshire, and Dorset.

Together WE can make a difference
